Delivering Gymnastics Safely at Key Stages 1 and 2

This course will equip delegates with the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to safely deliver Gymnastics as part of their school’s Physical Education curriculum.  Throughout the course delegates will be able to observe part of a practical lesson then take an active and practical approach to working with pupils from the host school.  They will practise supporting (ie ‘hands on’) pupils as they perform the progressive steps of learning simple and complex skills, including forward and backward rolls.  We will look in depth at the effective use and positioning of apparatus and mats, transition of floor skills onto apparatus, effective organisational principles, together with health and safety issues.

This event can be delivered to schools or clusters of schools as part of whole school training days on an individually commissioned basis.  The course can be either half a day or a whole day in duration.

Alternatively the course can be split into two courses. These can be delivered as part of a staff meeting and will normally be of a two hour duration.
